Full disclosure: I usually don’t write about DIY’s & I haven’t always been a go all out for Halloween kinda gal-mom. Not because I don’t love Halloween – but because I didn’t think I had the money to spare on decor. So, I pretty much Scrooged the situation & bummed everyone out:)
Everything changed when I started blogging about losing weight & looking around Pinterest “for work.” I was finding fabulous decor ideas for every season & holiday known to man – on the cheap! So I tried one, and then another & then another & guess who became slightly addicted to dollar store decorations?

So, here we are! Before I get started – I thought I’d mention a few things Dollar Tree has right now that you may want to go ahead & grab before they’re gone! (One trick I’ve learned is to plan ahead! – Also – these are affiliate links – for more information – see my disclosure page here!
- Pool Noodles: Yep. Get them now – you can use them for wreaths – there’s a DIY below.
- Halloween Ribbon: Sold in 9ft X 2.5″ rolls (Get it while you can!)
- 6 Inch Mesh Ribbon: In Orange, Purple & Black
- Glittery Spiders: These will come in handy – evidence below!
- Urn Planters: Often a seasonal item – don’t worry about the color – spray paint can fix that!

Starting with my favorite porch idea – of all time: the wicked witch’s legs! Here’s the deal – you may have most of the things this project requires laying around your house: newspaper, modpodge glue, scrap wood & cardboard, & an old pair of shoes. The rest you can get at the dollar store – spray paint & black & white socks – the only exception being the chicken wire – but you’re in a pinch you can always DIY it with a wire trash basket from Dollar Tree!

How To Hang Glowing Witch Hats: You’ll need the hats – available at the dollar store or Walmart – scissors – clear fishing line – glow sticks (optional) – & command hooks. Cut a tiny hole into the top of the hat. Then tie one end of the fishing line around your glow stick & thread it through the hat. Finally, tie the end of the line to a command hook to stick to the ceiling – you could also tape it directly to the ceiling! Boom – all done!
