Ladies, I am feeling way too enthusiastic about Fall decorating – again. This has happened to me before – as evidenced in this post of 100 no-carve pumpkin ideas and this post of 40 plus Halloween Dollar Store DIY’s.
It all started innocently enough.
With an idea of getting a little more festive with Halloween.
What I didn’t know was that I was flirting with disaster, and by that, I mean I became high-key obsessed with Halloween decor.
In other words, I must warn you that this Fall DIY stuff is like pumpkin crack, and I do not use that word loosely.
I’m only telling you this for your own good and safety – know that.
Okay, if you’re still here, that means you’re down to decorate, so grab your favorite broomstick and a hat and hold the bleep onto it. These Halloween front porch ideas will blow you away.

Trick or Treat Pumpkin Porch Idea

Welcome trick-or-treaters with a festive, illuminated message of your choice.
To make an illuminated pumpkin greeting, you can follow these steps:
- Choose a pumpkin: Select small pumpkins free of bruises and blemishes. A smooth surface works best for carving.
- Carve the pumpkin: Carefully cut off the top (of the pumpkin) to create a lid. Using a spoon, scoop out the seeds and pulp from inside the pumpkin. Then, using a pumpkin carving kit or sharp knife, carefully carve out your desired greeting or design on the front of the pumpkin.
- Add lights: Place small LED lights or battery-operated tea lights inside the carved pumpkin to illuminate your greeting. Make sure the lights are securely placed and won’t catch fire.

FAQ
How do I decorate my porch for Halloween on a budget?
Start with pumpkins in different sizes, then add dollar store finds like lanterns, fake spiderwebs, and black spray paint. A few pool noodles go a long way, too. My witch legs and Halloween candles both cost under $20.
Are real candles safe in porch decorations?
Battery-operated LED candles are the safer choice, especially around kids in costumes, hay bales, and dry leaves. Keep your walkway clear and tape down any extension cords so trick-or-treaters don’t trip.
When should I put up Halloween porch decorations?
Most people decorate in late September or early October. Use pumpkins, mums, and hay bales, and your porch can carry you straight through Thanksgiving.
Ok! Well that’s it for me. I’ve got kids to fetch, and a few million socks to try to pair. Thanks for reading all the way to the end. I hope you found a few new Halloween porch ideas to get you in the mood for Fall. While you’re here, check out these Halloween ideas!
