Are you drinking enough water?
As in, a gallon a day? I try, but I know I need to get more H2O!
If you are trying to lose weight, then you have to drink a TON of water.
Which is hard enough if you love water, but what if you don’t? Let’s face it: water isn’t exactly fun to drink!
The good news? You can make H20 fabulous by adding simple ingredients that help you increase your water intake and boost metabolism, banish bloat, clear skin, and lose weight.
What is Detox Water?
Also known as infused water, spa water, or fruit-infused water, detox water is water made with added ingredients you probably have at home; we’re talking lemons, cucumbers, and cinnamon.
Don’t let the name scare you away- NO starvation is required. And you don’t have to do anything crazy like wrap your body in tin foil and sweat it out for it to work.
Detox Water Ingredients
You can add various fruits, vegetables, and herbs to water to support weight loss. Some common ingredients in detox water recipes are lemon, grapefruit, cinnamon, and cucumber. Here’s the magic that comes with each ingredient.
Lemon: Lemons help with digestion while boosting vitamin C levels. The ascorbic acid in lemons helps detoxify the body and aid digestion. Lemons also contain pectin, a fiber that helps you feel full longer.
Grapefruit: Grapefruit can help boost metabolism and discourage cellulite. The AMP enzyme in grapefruit helps your body utilize sugar, which aids in weight loss by boosting metabolism. Naturally rich in vitamin C, grapefruit stimulates the immune system, hydrates the body, and promotes skin health.
Cinnamon: Cinnamon is a natural sweetener that is high in antioxidants. Cinnamon protects heart health, fights diabetes, and protects brain function.
Cucumber: Cucumbers fight free radical damage and inflammation. They are full of antioxidants like vitamin C and beta-carotene. Cucumbers act as a natural diuretic, stimulating urination, which helps avoid water retention (bloat), cleanse the liver, and flush out toxins.
Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is a favorite for weight loss because it contains acetic acid, which speeds up your metabolism. Enzymes and probiotics in apple cider vinegar also help support digestive function.
How to Make Detox Water
Detox water is easy to prepare. You may want to buy a fruit infuser bottle like this one for convenience, but you don’t need anything extra fancy!
Next, fill the bottle with ice until it is half full.
Finally, top it off with water and any remaining ingredients and place it in the refrigerator for at least three hours. You can refill the container at least three times with most bottles before losing flavor.
