Ok, so I’m a little obsessed with wrapping food in bacon.

It’s not a new phenomenon/trend: people have been going nuts with bacon for years – wrapping it around stuffed mushrooms – as I did here or creating bacon-infused Bourbon as seen on Southern Living. So yeah, bacon makes everything better – even Jalapeño Poppers which are nearly perfect already.

Are Jalapeno Poppers Keto-Friendly?

The short answer: yes. Jalapeño Poppers are keto-friendly.

For the longer version, I’ll breakdown the ingredients in this Keto Jalapeño Poppers recipe.

One jalapeño contains .5 grams of fiber, 4 calories, and .5 net carbs.

Cream cheese is also low carb, with less than 1 net carb per serving.

Make sure you use the full-fat version —

Finally, cheddar cheese – another keto-friendly ingredient with 1.4 carbs per cup.

Psst: It is better to go the shred it yourself route with the cheese – pre-shredded cheese may always contains fillers and extra carbs.

How Many Carbs Are In Keto Jalapeño Poppers?

If you use the full-fat cream cheese and cheddar – you’ll end up with 1.5 net carbs per popper.

Bacon-Wrapped Keto Cream Cheese Jalapeno Poppers Ingredients

Here’s the thing about the ingredients: I used smokey cheddar cheese (it’s best to shred your own if you’re counting carbs because pre-shredded contains a few extra ingredients) but if you’re more of a mild or sharp fan – substitute it!

And for the bacon – if you want to use turkey bacon instead of pork – go for it! Either way, using thinner bacon makes the process of wrapping and baking/grilling/air frying easier.

Want something a little more filling? Add in browned sausage or ground beef or that leftover shredded chicken you have in the fridge!

VIP Jalapeño Public Service Safety Message!

Please be careful when handling the jalapeños.

Seriously, you may want to consider wearing gloves.

If you’ve picked a potent pepper (say that three times fast:) – you may get burned.

The seeds and the membrane (AKA: that white stuff inside the jalapeno) contains the heat – also known as: capsaicin.

Use a knife/spoon combo or Jalapeño Pepper Corer (Yes, It’s A Thing) to remove the seeds and membrane – & – if you’re not gloving up – wash your hands as if you were a surgeon scrubbing in!!!!

Because if you accidentally – or on purpose – get that capsaicin in your eye – it’s going to STING.

Can You Make Keto Jalapeño Poppers Ahead?

You can prep these Jalapeño Poppers ahead! Feel free to stuff the peppers and wrap with bacon 1 day in advance – as long as you keep them in the refrigerator.

Serve these bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers appetizer at your next holiday party or game day gathering & let me know how fast they disappear!

Description

These Keto Stuffed Jalapeno Poppers are the perfect low carb appetizer recipe! Cream cheese and smoked cheddar stuffed jalapenos – wrapped in bacon – create the ultimate party appetizer or tailgate snack with 1.5 net carbs.

Ingredients

8 Jalapenos – Halved

8 Ounces Cream Cheese (softened)

12 Slices Bacon or Turkey Bacon

1 Cup Smoked Cheddar Cheese – Grated

Instructions

To Bake:

  1. Preheat Oven to 400
  2. Cut jalapenos in half & remove seeds.
  3. Combine cream cheese and grated smoked cheddar.
  4. Using a spoon, fill each jalapeno with cheese stuffing.
  5. Wrap each with bacon – starting with the fattiest end and roll until jalapeno is wrapped
  6. Bake for 20-25 Minutes

For the Grill – 1 Hour

For best results, let poppers chill in the refrigerator for an hour before grilling

  • Heat grill to 275 – 300
  • Start with the cream cheese side down. You can use a skillet like this one or you can put the jalapenos directly on the grill (watch out for flare-ups when the cheese begins to melt!)
  • Grill for 1 hour

Air Fryer – 20 Minutes

For best results, let poppers chill in the refrigerator for an hour before air frying

  • Set Air Fryer to 325
  • Spray basket with oil
  • Place poppers in basket – try not to overlap
  • Set timer for 12 minutes
  • After 12 minutes do a quick check-in to see how poppers are progressing (cooking times will vary due to brand of the fryer)
  • Cook for 8 more minutes
  • Prep Time: 10
  • Cook Time: Depending on Method
