You know, when my 7-year-old son found this video I seriously doubt he was looking for powerful daily affirmations, yet he picked a winner. He also played it around 1,000 times – my son has autism & when he finds a favorite – it tends to stick:))

This little girl rocks affirmations better than any of the gurus I’ve seen on Ted, Youtube or Oprah’s SuperSoul Sessions – and I’ll tell you why.

She knows the secret to make positive affirmations work: belief.

Positive Affirmations – Defined

Affirmations are reminders to your subconscious mind to stay positive – kind of like a HIIT workout for your brain. Quick, fast & effective.

Positive affirmations help you overcome negative thought patterns & belief systems — even ones from way back in the day.

You may have picked up a few of these from your childhood from well-meaning but ill-informed family members.

Maybe your mother’s mantra was money is the root of all evil – which planted a seed that has created a negative relationship between you & cold hard cash.

Or maybe your grandmother told you obesity runs in your family & diets don’t work, and now you struggle with weight.

No matter where you got these little gems that slowly & systematically hold you back, there are things you can do to challenge & change them. That’s where positive affirmations play in.

How To Use Positive Affirmations

Whether you realize it or not, you’re already using affirmations on the daily – they’re just not positive.

Ever catch yourself saying things like:

My house will never be clean.
Everything I eat goes straight to my thighs.
No matter what I do, I can’t seem to catch a break.
I’ll never get ahead at work.

All fabulous examples of affirmations – Negative Affirmations.

Never underestimate their power to undercut your success, self-esteem, and overall happiness.

Every thought you think & word you say is an affirmation – of something.

The Secret To Making Affirmations Work

Lying to yourself won’t cut it – your brain is too smart for that.

Chanting a mantra that you do not and will never believe is a recipe for failure.

For example, if your goal is to feel more self-confident, & you have suffered from self-esteem issues for years saying I am confident in my skin will feel fake & phony.

Try: I am learning to love myself more every day.

When I was looking at an extra 100 pounds of weight, telling myself, I love my body – was a joke because I knew the truth.

Instead, I focused on believing I was in control of my thoughts & that I could make small steps every day that would have a significant impact.

The best tip I can give you?

Write original positive affirmations tailored to your needs, anxieties & issues.

In your words.

Write them how you talk, and use the present tense.

Experts will tell you to repeat them five times a day, but the karma police isn’t coming to bust you if you do four.

Keep it upbeat and don’t overthink it – it’s not up to you to figure out how it will work.

Once you get into the habit of using positive affirmations, you will notice an incredible difference in your mood, anxiety levels, and productivity. It takes at least 21 days to form a habit, so don’t be too hard on yourself if this doesn’t come naturally at first. Keep trying. And don’t forget – you are what you think!
