Two simple keto coleslaw recipes perfect for summer cookouts and barbeques! Whip up a batch of this keto side dish with mayonnaise or without to make any dinner complete!
I was somewhere around ten years old when I became the high-maintenance, picky-eating, no-mayo girl I am today.
I blame my Dad because it’s 100% his fault I don’t trust restaurants or my husband when it comes to adding (or leaving out) the mayonnaise.
If I had a dollar for every time I’ve expressed my passionate hatred for mayo I’d be doing lunch with the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
I remember the night my mayo-game changed forever. My Dad and I were outside enjoying an unusually pleasant southern summer evening waiting for dinner: BLTs. Mom was in the kitchen, and when she asked how we wanted her to prepare our sandwiches, Dad took the opportunity to declare mayo to be gross. That’s all he said, and that’s all it took to change my palate- forever!
If You Love Mayo – Don’t Worry
Mayonnaise is low carb & perfectly acceptable on the keto diet & I’ve made 2 versions of this slaw – one with mayo & one without so nobody’s feelings get hurt!

Cabbage, Carbs & Keto
Enough about condiments.
Our main ingredient today is cabbage.
Cabbage is a low carb, keto-friendly vegetable that comes in all sorts of shapes & colors: red, purple, white & green.
All varieties of cabbage support healthy digestion & heart-health: lowers “bad” cholesterol (LDL) & may help lower blood pressure.
All while being super low carb & budget-friendly:)

- Green or White Cabbage = 3 Net Carbs, 22 Calories
- Red/Purple Cabbage = 4.7 Net Carbs, 28 Calories

Feel free to take what you love about these recipes & make them your own! Use a variety of colors – mix & match spices – etc.
You’ll notice there are more ingredients in the “with mayo” version. I’ve found you can add a bit more & get away with it when you’re dealing with a creamy base.

No Mayo? No problem! This easy Keto Coleslaw recipe brings the flavor with a fabulous combination of red onion, jalapenos, fresh lime & olive oil! Put this low carb slaw together in minutes & enjoy this must-have summer side dish with 2.4 net carbs per serving!
Ingredients
- 7 Cups Shredded Cabbage – Or 2 10 Ounce Bags Pre-Shredded Coleslaw
- ½ Cup Red Onion
- 1–2 Jalapenos – Chopped – With or Without Seeds
- ¼ Cup Lime Juice
- ½ Cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 + ½ Teaspoons Sea Salt
Instructions
- Chop onion, jalapenos & prep cabbage.
- Combine lime juice, vinegar & oil – set aside.
- Mix together & refrigerate for an hour before serving.
- Add Salt & Pepper To Taste

Like It Spicy? Don’t remove the Jalapeno Seeds!
Coleslaw tastes best chilled. Refrigerate overnight for best results or at least an hour!

With a simple, creamy blend of mayonnaise & sour cream with fresh lime juice, jalapenos & red onion this Keto Coleslaw is the perfect combination of sweet & spicy! This low carb slaw comes together in minutes & makes the perfect keto summer side dish with 2.6 net carbs per serving!
Ingredients
- 7 Cups Shredded Cabbage ( Or 2 10-Ounce Bags Pre-Shredded Coleslaw Mix)
- 1/4 Cup Mayonnaise
- 1/4 Cup Sour Cream
- 2 Tablespoons Lime Juice
- 1 -2 Jalapeños, Seeded and Chopped
- 1 Garlic Clove, Grated or Pressed
- 1/2 Cup Red Onion – Thinly Sliced
- 1/3 Cup Chopped Fresh Cilantro (Optional)
- 1/4 Cup Sliced Fresh Chives
- 1/4 Cup Parsley
- Sea Salt
- Ground Black Pepper
Instructions
- First, rinse & chop jalapenos & remove the seeds. (For more spice-keep the seeds)
- Chop onion – set aside.
- Combine mayo, sour cream, & lime juice.
- Add in garlic & jalapeno.
- Add cabbage & season to taste with salt & pepper.
- Refrigerate for an hour or more before serving!
