When I started doing keto seven years ago, I didn’t have a steady source of inspiration, I wasn’t “at home” in the kitchand I had no clue how to meal prep.
What I did have was an extra 150 pounds of weight, chronic migraines, no energy, and an endless supply of excuses for not going to parties. (In the photo above I was attending a mandatory function for charity.)
But I was determined to do everything it took to make a change. So I took small steps, and learned along the way.
I stuck to it, lost 148 pounds, started a blog, became a health coach, and found my passion. Helping others do the same. If a mom of three who needed a step by step list of instructions to boil water can do it, you can too.

What Is The Keto Diet?
The ketogenic (keto) diet is a low carbohydrate, high-fat diet that reduces the number of carbs you eat per day (usually to 30 net carbs per day or less.) When you reduce the carbs while increasing the number of healthy fats you eat, your body enters a natural fat-fueled metabolic state known as ketosis. Dr. Robert Atkins described ketosis as:
“a happy state . . . [in which] your fat is being burned off with maximum efficiency and minimum deprivation.”
Sure, your body may go through an adjustment period, also known as the keto flu. Still, once your body becomes fat-fueled, your energy levels increase, your cravings for sugar decrease, and you get this magical ability to focus like never before. Oh, and you start dropping pounds at a massive rate.
